I have Geico insurance. last night somebody bumped on my car while in the parking lot and i saw a big ditch on the backside bumper. my question is geico will consider this under "collision" or "comprehensive" coverage? please let me know if you are totally sure and have an experience about it. many thanks !

It is a collision loss. Another vehicle struck your vehicle. Comp losses are theft, flood, vandalism, fire, hitting an animal etc.
I am 'totally' sure. |

Collision and unfortunately your deductible will apply since there's no identification on the other vehicle.
Comprehensive claims are considered acts of nature (wind, fire, flood) and vandalism or theft.

It's Collision; Comprehensive is damage by fire, theft, flood, etc. It's possible that Geico offers a lower deductible for such hit/run losses, though; you'll have to read your policy or call them to be sure. |

It is considered comprehensive. Make sure you get a police report made that states that you walked out to your car in the parking lot and it was damaged. Comprehensive coverage covers everything and anything that does not involve your vehicle being in motion like theft vandalism, hail, tree falling on it etc...
Collision claims apply to the vehicle being in motion and hitting another object. |
