Three points for talking on the phone?

A copper just saw my friend on the phone whilst driving. The copper shook his head bt didnt stop him. Has my friend been issued points by post or does she have to be stopped to be given points? please help?

She's got to be stopped and asked for her details.
And then she'll be told that she'll be issued with a fine. |

The cop didn't do anything to your friend. He will remember your friend and his car. The next time, he may not be so lucky. If you keep drawing attention to yourself to the police, sooner or later, the police may give you more attention than you want.
Try to fly under the radar, and not be noticed, when you are doing something against the law. If your friend have on a headset then the cop wouldn't have noticed anything.

You have to be stopped and issued a ticket. The ticket will have to be filed by the courts to have points against you and your license |

Your friend shouldn't lose any points if he wasn't pulled over and issued a ticket that your friend would have to fight in court to get them back.
There are states that may take a picture (mostly a city wide cam) that will take your picture and send you a ticket in the mail.
This doesn't sound like the case so I am pretty sure your friend will be ok!
Please tell your friend to pull over if he/she needs to talk on the phone. It's safer and you won't have to worry if points are going to be taken away. :) |

Usually you won't just be stopped for talking on the phone. If it's making you drive erratic or you are involved in a accident, then it'll count against you. |
