Too nervous during road test to get license, should I give up or re-test tomorrow?

I am 31 and was doing fine yesterday, I did three point turn well after an hour of practice, I have drove on highways and city in these past two months on weekends. But today I failed road test, I started three point turn and hit the accelarator instead of brake and hit the cone and was failed at once. I have never done that before! and then once home when parking I did it again! I went over the curb because hit accelarator again, I was still nervous and thinking of what had happened on the road test. What can I DO? The tester said I do not drive safe and need more practice, that usually they suggest 5 months of practice but I need my license now,my hubby which has been teaching me is afraid to drive with me now, there are no instructors in my area and I am new no friends or neighbors, I am thinking to just let it go, nervousness and driving cannot go together, I have always been a nervous person for minor things and it is my nature. Any hints, or people in my situation which can help?

You should definitely NOT give up. Perhaps you may need more practice, but practice goes in your favor. You'll really be ready. I think almost everyone is nervous during the big test. Don't rush, take your time and you would probably be less nervous. Driving is a big responsibility. I'm sure you would want to be 100% ready.

Its just nerves, look @ it like this, all you gotta do is blag your way thro 30 mins ov test, u know u can drive so just do it :)

You need more practice which will make you more confident in your driving abilities. Then retake the test and you should not be nervous. |

You should practice the course itself, when closed, or at night. Look for all the tricks. There is no deduction for slowness. The test is about control. The examiner may be right. Imagine not a cone, a child. Get a formal instructor from somewhere. If I had to teach my wife or kids to drive, I would be screaming in frustration. Not good for a nervous person. Get a professional instructor. |

Practice. Driving before you are ready is a license to injur yourself and someone else. |

If you are that nervous you shouldn't drive at all. If that had happened in a crowded parking lot, someone may have been killed. Not everyone is cut out to drive. We all would be safer if some just rode the bus. |

Funny you should ask that first time I got my driver's license I never got out of the parking lot so I understand . There are always driving schools maybe that would help. |

I am not trying to mean, so please do not take it that way. Have you tried therapy? Maybe the therapist can prescribe medication that will help calm you.
