i was at a traffic light slowed down as it became red, and i was hit. a highway patrol wittnessed it and gave the report i was in my friends car which was not insured, i had an estimate of damages. do i claim?

Were you hurt? If you were, get a lawyer. Thw lawyer won't charge you unless he collects money for you. If you weren't hurt, what is your claim? You didn't have any damages. Your friend is the one with the claim. He (or she) can file a claim with the insurance company for the other driver. If that driver ian't insured, he can sue the person for damages. Don't worry about the fact that you had no insurance. That's your friend's concern. |

The owner of the car you were driving has to file a claim against the owner of the car and/or the driver of the car that hit you.
Since you don't own you don't have any claim unless you were personally injured |

If you were in MY state... (Texas) it's required that all vehicles roadworthy.. carry at least,the min. liability insurance.
For not having any, you would be ticketed.. then the driver of the other car would simply file on their own insurance which in turn would attempt to sue (you or the owner of the car) probably both... |

No you don't. The law in your state says you must have mandatory car insurance with you at all times, and has to be with a current policy. You're on your own with that. |

if you go out on the public road without insurance and you get hit you deserve to get caught and left to pay the damages to your car. Only irresponsible people drive without insurance. Live with it! |

You may be covered for liability under your own policy, no matter what vehicle you are driving, as long as you do not own it. This is not a relevant factor here, because the other driver is the liable party. Fr Chuck is right, the owner of the vehicle needs to file a claim against the other driver! |

yeah you can but only if you have injuries and don't worry about not having insurance if the officer didn't gave you a ticket you don't have to pay anything and your friend can also get the money to fix he's car. I had the same problem and that's what i did. |
