Transferring cars on my insurance?

Hi, I'm getting a new car (Eagle Vision ESi) and my old one on my insurance was an Eagle Vision TSi. I was wondering if I could just simply switch cars, and transfer the plates. I'm currently with One Beacon insurance, and I wanted to verify if I could do this. I would also like to know the process if anyone could answer it. Thanks.
P.S. Would it cost any additional fees to switch cars, and/or add the car? Am I saving big money by keeping the plates, or can I get more money by turning it in, since I have my registration sticker only since about last Monday, so I have a full 2 years left! I live in N.Y. btw.

You're insurance company should have your car's VIN on file. If you don't inform them and you have to file a claim later you could get caught for insurance fraud. It's usually under $10 to transfer plates, and insurance should't change or charge you anything. As for inspection I can't help. We don't have that in TN. |
