I was driving along at 30mpg, hit some ice, turned 180 degrees round, and hit a tree backwards.
Big dent in boot, Bumper damaged. Took away fairing and the main structural bar that goes across the back behind the bumper is also bent a lot.
But there is no evidence of damage further forwards. All rear lights still work OK. Car drives normally.
I am insured third party fire & theft, and the car was worth £2000 before I crashed it (much less now of course).
I can't make a claim for the accident as I was not fully comp, but do I need to inform my insurance company that the accident has happened?
Thanks
BTW Nobody else was involved, no damage to the side of the road, and no police involvement.

If you read the small print of your insurance documents you will find that you have to notify the insurance company of any accidents regardless of whether or not you make a claim. The choice is yours as to whether you do but your insurance policy may be voided if they ever find out that you didn't disclose this information, operative word being "if". |

Since your insurance isn't liable to cover the damage, I can't imagine why they would care. I wouldn't bother, just make sure none of the damage it suffered affects it still being street legal. |
|

fookin hell, not again
|
did you damage the tree?
that tree is gonna sue your **** cause you gave it splinters........
what is your plan? just keep driving it till it ....hahaha....crashes and burns....?
or are you gonna fix it? then sell it to some poor unsuspecting fool? |

You may find that it has become a MOT failure in which case you could be stopped from driving it by the police. |

Might as well tell them..... |

so long as car is road worthy then their is no reason to inform insurers as car isn't off the road, may be an idea to check at garage though as getting a pull from passing police car could incur penalty points to your license if they prove otherwise, also have you tried a hammer to boot?? my friend didn't put handbrake on properly, car rolled down hill into tree, used a hammer on inside and pushed dent back out. otherwise it requires a new boot, does boot still open and close properly, as if insecure could release on motorway, could be a problem |

no. have car checked for MOT check, there may be some damage to wheel alignment or exhaust.immissions etc, make repairs, you pay bill |

No. |

You only have to tell them if you want them to pay to fix it. Otherwise, you are responsible for all the repairs your car will need. Also, I don't know about the UK, but it is illegal to drive with broken tail lights, headlights, windshield or a crunched door. |

Since nobody else was involved you do not have to notify your insurance company. I wouldn't continue to drive the car but I wouldn't let it affect my NCB. Just scrap it and get a better one! |
