Sorry if i was more specific.
I recently had my car attacked by some chav on the rampage. He not only attacked my friends but pulled a blade too.
He was caught at the scene.
I now have a £1000 bill to pay for the repair.
Will he ulitmately pay for the damage? or will it be a £5 a week from the scum chav... or is it now down to me? - my insurance said for £250 for me to pay they will do it but il lose my no claims etc.
Anyone give me any advice on what might happen when he appears in court and regards to who pays the damages or if anyone has advice or course of action i can take to reduce the cost and all that
No joke replies if possible.

Your best bet would have been not to tell the insurance company, but it's too late now and you can expect to repay anything they've contributed, plus a bit more, over the next 3 or 4 years with loaded premiums - NCB protection would not have changed this.
As for getting something from the criminal, you can try but if he's the sort of person who smashes cars for fun, he's unlikely to take any court order too seriously. It is likely to cost you something to take the matter further than the criminal proceedings. All you can realistically hope for is that the person is put somewhere where he can't smash any more cars for a while. |

Sorry if you wait for him to pay it could be forever.You could see if a garage will do it on the cheap.You have reported it to your insurence company so even if you do not claim it still is classed as a claim found this out by my house hold insurance. |

As you have put it the chav should pay and should pay the hole lot as then you don't loose your no claims. hope fully he should get a bit of time for carrying the blade. If you go to the court make it out that he still scares you your scared to go out milk it but not to much. let me know what happens |

if he is unemployed, you can expect £5 a week tops,
if he has a job, the judge will give him time to pay, if he fails to pay he could be locked up. if he is locked up you foot the bill. |

I AM SORRY FOR WHAT HAPPEN BUT IF YOUR COURTS WORK LIKE THEY DO IN THE U.S. THE JUDGE WILL ORDER THE PERSON TO PAY YOU BACK.
THE AMOUNT WILL DEPEND ON WHAT THE PERSON HAS TO OFFER AND SOMETIMES THE AMOUNTS ARE VERY SMALL.
THE OTHER OPTION THAT IS OFFERED TO US HERE IS THAT WE CAN PUT A LIEN ON THE PERSONS PERSONAL PROPERTY IF THEY HAD IT AND THIS YOU WILL FORCE THE PERSON TO PAY YOU OFF QUICKER. |
