if you were unaware that the insurance was cancelled as you say. Then you need to speak to your insurance company as under the data protection act they can not do anything to a policy for anyone but the policy holder especially cancel it. if this is the case get them to write a letter of indemnity if they refuse take it to the financial ombudsman service who in theory will overturn the insurance company and when you get the letter that means that you were covered to drive under the professional liabilities insurance. if you need any further help im me

some times u can ask the police officer 2 go 2 driving school instead u will have 2 pay 4 this urself but its keeps u getting points i have done this and it cost me 136 pounds put it was cheaper in the long run

You won't get very far with that, as one principle of English law is that it doesn't matter whether you know you're breaking law or not - ignorance is no defence.
You can appeal against points (although success rates are low), but in your particular case it is not likely to be worth it at all.

was the insurance in your name if it was the insurance company are ment to inform you and if it is your partner would not of been allowed to cancel it good luck your insurance will go up alot if you cant get the points off mine trebled when i got done 4 it good luck

you can appeal but it can go two ways the judge can say it was too lenient and impose more points on you
the thing is not knowing your insurance was cancelled is no defence the law will not take that into account because everyone would pull the same stunt get some advice before you appeal

Of course you can appeal - if it gets you anywhere is a

In short, no. In English Law ignorance is no defense. You can, however, have them removed early - bit like remission for good behavior!

take it to court and explain whats happened. I'd get on to insurance company first to see what details that they have on record first. GOOD LUCK
