Unauthorized Driver took my rental car had an accident?

An unauthorized driver (Cousin's friend) took my rental car without my permission got into an accident. Now, I am stuck with the responsibility since I am the authorized driver who signed the agreement with this car-a-rent place. I have insurance, however it does not cover the unauthorized individual. That individual has no insurance. I really do not know what to do? The rent-a-car place is saying that I am at fault for not safeguarding the keys. What do I do?

call the police and press charges and sue your cousin's friend.
your insurance will cover it if it was stolen so tahts what i would do.
it sounds mean but thats what he gets for being a retard and stealing peoples cars.

They are right. The company has recourse against you and you alone. They will sue you for damages and you will need to cross complain against the person who wrecked the car.
Next time keep the keys with you!

The cousin's friend then stole the rental car. You should have reported it as stolen. I agree that you were negligent in not safeguarding the keys to a vehicle that didn't belong to you. You're in a real mess. You may have to pay the rental company for the damages and then sue the person who took it and wrecked it.
