Wen caught commiting car offence, do points go on licence from date of offence or court date conviction?

was caught speeding during ist 2 years of passing test, was convicted an took over 6 points allowed, date of conviction was 2 months after 2 year thresh hold, was sent letter from DVLA stating i would be banned and ordered to do resit, is this mistake on their part as i was given points 2 month after????

Since you are innocent until proven guilty in court, the time starts on conviction as far as taking it off your record. However, obviously, it starts on the date of ticket as far as the DVLA is concerned for their purposes. |

The points start from the date of the court conviction. I know because I was caught speeding in November 2005 and my points were only put on my license in April 2006 which was the court date.

Points only count from the date the court decides you're guilty and orders the points to be applied. Until the court finds you guilty, you're innocent of the offence.
Sounds like DVLA have made a mistake, I'd take it up with them pdq. (Perhaps your records are currently in Idaho, or somewhere!) |

On a drink driving offence it is the date of the court hearing because you can still drive until you are banned. Dont know about the 2 year bit. |

Point are applied to your licence on the day you are convicted of the offence. |

ive read that the lesser offence are from date of offence ie.. speeding, car defects, but the bigger ones ie.. drink driving ect are from date of conviction..
