What's all involved in getting your driver's license back?

um my hubby kinda went throught the same thing... all i know is that he had tons of paperwork to do. we went through a lawyer and he took care of most of it. he also had to pay i think around $100. to get it back. i am pretty sure he had to show proof of a car and insurance in his name as well. sorry i cant be of more help. i do know that if he gets caught driving your car then they can take him to jail and impound your car and you will have to pay to get it out.. and thats not cheap at all!

How does he drive your car if he doesn't have a license?? That is ILLEGAL!

If he doesn't have a license because of DUI then he is driving on a SUSPENDED or REVOKED license right??

That is so UNFAIR and DANGEROUS to all the innocent people on the road!

I think it is SO unfair that people like your boyfriend can drink & drive, get his license suspended AND STILL drive, while people like me who haven't done ANYTHING, who NEVER drink & drive, and yet can't drive, because they aren't allowed to get a license or insurance due to MEDICAL conditions which aren't their fault.

I HATE people like your boyfriend who drink and drive and still get to drive even without a license while people like me are stuck at home DAY IN AND DAY OUT because they can't drive because of medical problems.

You're allowing him to drive your car without a license, which means your insurance is void with him driving. Do not allow him to drive your car. SR22 is a form your agent fills out and sends to the state to prove you have insurance, not something he has to fill out. The process is simple, assuming he has paid all the fines and has the receipts for those payments, all he has to do is get insurance, he can be added to your car if need be, and have the agent do the needed SR22 filing. Then he needs to apply for his license back. He will need to show he has paid all fines, and done whatever else the court required of him, and have the SR22 on file, and he will then have a valid license again.

Sounds to me like he is leaving something out here.

Bottom line, do NOT let him drive your car, you will be responsible for anything he does.

Its nto hard he's being lazy, call the DMV get the sr22 insurance (which is a little high) and then go get the license

First of all, you can get in trouble by letting him drive your car w/o a license. You might be able to add him to your policy, then file the SR-22 form(proof of insurance) on that coverage.Double check with your agent & the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to make sure that this method is possible.

first, if he is driving your car and has no licence, he is putting you at risk.

your insurance will not cover him in case of an accident, you may be guility because you knowingly let him drive your car. facilitation of a crime. it maybe only a feloney or just a misdomeaner.

if he injures anyone, or causes any damage, you are liable. you are the registered owner.

if he is stopped, the car will be impounded and you will pay to get it back.

if i were you, i would not let him drive at all.

he needs to be driven down to the local dmv and get the facts.

it sounds like the licence was suspended. just because it was suspended and expired does not wipe the slate clean.

EDIT: so he never went to get it after it was suspended. he will get arrestted for driving without a valid licence rather than driving with a suspended licence. remember, the police will be able to pull up his moving violation without his licence number.

EDIT#2: drive him to an insurance agent that spealizes in sr22 filings. take his checque book. obtain a policy. drive him to dmv. have him take the test and do the test. obtain licence.

If he hasn't reactivated after the suspension period, his licence is still suspended, believe me, and if he never reactivates it the system will show his licence as suspended until the day he dies. Nobody can tell you different. If he reactivated, it would be active, if he then didn't renew, it would be lapsed. But if he has just left it, nothing has happened to change the status from suspended. There is a time limit to the actual suspension, but, the last thing a person has to do, and this HAS to be done, to get it unsuspended, even if the time has ong expired, is reactivate it. If he is pulled over, your car can be impounded. If he is in an accident, and the insurance company rules you knew he was a suspended driver, they could deny the claim for all your damages. Don't let him drive your car, or you may not have one! He has to go the DMV and reactivate his licence. You can't. He doesn't have to own a vehicle to get his licence, he is feeding you a line on that, he needs insurance. There are 3 types of SR-22 certificates. The one he needs, and seems too lazy to get, the one he is feeding you a line on, is the "Operator's Certificate" - This policy covers the motorist in the operation of any non-owned vehicle. Any motorist who does not own a vehicle satisfies the financial responsibility requirements with this one. He must carry this for 3 years, if it lapses or is cancelled in the 3 years, his licence is automatically suspended.

if you have kids don't let him drive with them in the car... it will become a dhs matter well at least it does here..... my aunt got into an accident with someone who didn't have a license or insurance and his girlfriends kids were in the car he was driving

you could potentially lose your license or insurance if he is driving your car without a license
