I'm shopping for a car for my son(16 and getting his license) He wants a mitsubishi eclipse. I see a lot of convertibles for sale, but would like to know how much more the insurance would be. Assuming all things equal on the car except the convertible top.
Details: Liability only, $4k price range, 2000 year make.

I dont know how much but it should be more expensive, you can get quotes online so you can know better how much you should pay for certain car, try this site where you can get quotes from different companies in your area

usually with liability only the price is based on the driver and not the car. A state farm agent once told me whether i had a Ford Festiva or a Corvette my liability would be the same. But check with your insurance agent to be sure. |

if your only adding liability and no full coverage then it should be the same price no matter what he wants to drive.
When you get full coverage then the insurance agent goes by what the make and model of the car.
I had liability insurance on alot of cars and it was the same no matter what I drove.
But as him being 16 then the insurance will be high even with liability.
However the liability insurance goes down after he is 25. I am unsure but he will be high risk until he is 25yrs old, liability insurance goes down after your married too.
