What Can I Do About My Car Insurance?

Ok, so I made a little rant with my last question, now I want to know why my parent's insurance company, Geico, has the right to charge them 140$ just because I am ABLE to drive and live in the same household?

I used to drive it about 5 minutes, literally, every sunday to Church and back, but now that I say that I am going to just ride my bike to Church, it won't matter, so... wtf is up with that? Is there something I can do about that?

Yeah, but I have no say so, I'm not going to drive the car, so why do I have to pay the insurance on it?

autoinsurance.maclenet.com - check this one. As I remember they have lowest car insurance rates for teens and young drivers.

THE UNCOOL 1
probably because you are a licensed driver living in the house. Welcome to the wonderful world of insurance. If you think auto insurance is screwed up, try health insurance!!!!

Unfortunately because you are a licensed driver in the household and have access to the keys they will charge you for it. I know it's a bunch of crap but that's what insurance companies do. The only thing you can do to avoid it is get your own insurance and show Geico that you have your own personal insurance or you can try to dispute it but it wil be a very, very difficult process and you would need to prove that you never drive the car... which is difficult to prove.
I recall someone telling me years back that they took the carrier to court and won because their car was stick shift and their son didnt know how to drive it. Unfortunately for $140 it wouldnt be worth it unless your doing it for principle alone.

Because you could drive it once, for just 5 minutes, and cause an accident. All licensed drivers in any household have to be included as a driver on at least one vehicle. Or they may be able to be excluded from coverage, but then could not legally drive because they are uninsured. It's the price of responsibility and the price you pay to have the privilege of driving.

You have access to the vehicle, that's why they want you insured. You can say that your not going to drive it, but you can.

Your insurance policy states that any licensed driver in the same residence as the named insured (holder of the policy), must be listed on the policy and rated.

Your parents are under contract with the insurance carrier and they have every right to charge for licensed drivers.
