hi, one of my mate got her provisional licence at the age of 16, im currently 15 and in august im turning 16, can i apply to get my provisional licence?
and i know i cant drive until im 17, but im just asking if i can get my provisional licence a couple of months before i turn 16?

but that cant be true as my mate is 16 and shes got ehr license......and she doesnt want to drive a moped....

You can apply roughly a month before your 16th birthday. Once you turn 16, you can take your CBT and start riding a moped (under 49cc).
Once you turn 17, you can start learning to drive a car.
So to sum up, you can get a license at 16,
but to drive a car you cant use it for another year. |

Your mate is having a laugh with you. Unless she's very nearly 17 or on the higher rate disability allowance, it's a moped licence. |

You can get your provisional licence up to three months before your 17th birthday, so I am afraid you will have to wait another year and a bit before you can get your provisional licence.
Having a licence before you turn 17 will be handy because that way you can start learning to drive straight away! |

You will only be able to get it at 16, if you want to drive a moped.
As you can not have driving lessons in a car until you are 17 years old.
Well if you have seen her license and she is having driving lessons, then she is lying that she is 16. |

If you are not riding a moped or claiming DLA, then it is 17, and you can apply 3 months before your 17th, but the start date must be you 17th Birthday.
If you friend is not riding a moped or claiming DLA and is 16, then her having lessons must be illegal, I'm surprised she is insured - which is probably unlikely. |

You can only LEGALLY apply for your car provisional licence a MONTH before your 17th Birthday. It is ILLEGAL to receive it before then. |

yes. then you need lessons at say £20 per lesson, then a car at say£4000, then insurance at about £4000, then tax and MOT. so how did you get all this money whilst still at school? |
