Hi, I have been responsible for a car accident with a friend's car that is not insured. My car hasn't had any damage, but the other car has a small bump and a few scratches in the back bumper. The insurance of the other car contacted me, and sent me a bill of 1600$ (!) I have to pay. The detail of the costs is a total rip off (they charge me 30 hours of labour in the car, repaired "rear child restraints", "fuel tank lid", "boot floor mat" etc...). I called them and disagreed to pay that much, but they still want me to pay it. What are my rights about the matter, as nobody has any proof of the accident?

Are you a qualified body and paint estimator? I'm guessing not, because you'd know $1600 isn't much when you're talking about body and paint.
You stated here you were responsible for the accident, so you are also responsible to pay for the damages. |

Sounds about right.
Car accidents cost a lot, even for little fender benders.
$1600 is nothing, compared to what some can cost.
Pay up, and stop crying about it. And if the insurance of the other company has a bill, then yes, they have proof of what needs to be fixed. |

Last spring my car was dinged in the parking lot while I was grocery shopping, I didn't think it was a big deal and wondered if it was even worth reporting it to my insurance carrier. I did report it, took it in to be fixed, the repair bill was $4,800, less my $250 deductible. Body work is very expensive pay the $1,600. |
