Some states your license gets suspended and/or you get a fine.
You shouldn't drive without insurance b/c in the event that you get into an accident, and you are at fault, you will personally be sued. You will be sued for every penny any insurance company has to lay out b/c of you. So don't do it. Insure yourself. Even if its the minimum policy. |

none.... if you don't get caught !! but don't do it , 'cos think of what might happen if you had an accident and maimed someone , worse killed them . you will be paying for the rest of your life .the police now know every detail about a car at the touch of a button . the insurance is listed at swansea along with mot and tax . gone are the days when you could 'blag it '.
THIS IS U.K. |

Depending on what state you live in; in NC if caught driving without insurance you will receive a ticket and then must have insurance before your court date, you also run the risk of having your car towed. Also if an accident occurs and you don't have insurance, then the insurance company will sue you and suspend your license until the balance is paid or you make payment arrangements. |

Whatever the penalties are it is not enough
You simply cannot drive without insurance. Imagine injuring or killing someone just how would you propose to cover that one
If know it's costly but it's plain stupidity to think you can drive without.
I you were to hurt or worse still one of mine I would not stop until I was sure that you had paid in full. Trust me |

6 points and a fine from £150.00 depending on the judge.
if you have repeatedily done this on other occasions they might be harsh on you.
you definately wont go jail for it, but they are doing a new law where they'll take the car off the road and will cost to get it back |

as almost everyone said, insurance varies in states. In Illinois, it is 500 for the first offence, and doubles up on each successive license, and it stays in your permanent record, and also you have to go to the court with a valid insurance to get your license back. |

In the United States, all 50 states have financial responsibility laws on the books, which state if you drive you will pay if you break something of someone elses. That is most often met by having insurance, although you can become self insured if you meet certain requirements. Most government agencies are self insured.
Most states have a data base in effect that ties together driver's license, registration, and insurance verification, and you can't get registration without proof of insurance. If your insurance is canceled, your DL will be revoked, and if you are stopped your car will be towed.
That's why, if you have more then one vehicle and happen to get rid of it you should notify the insurance and not just let it run out for non payment, or you may get one of those "please turn in your revoked license" letters from the state. |

It is going to vary from state to state but where I live it is a huge fine and they require you to have an SR22 filing for 2 years showing proof of insurance

If your car is financed the Lien Holder can slap heavy insurance coverage on your loan. You wouldn't be able to forfeit insurance even if you wanted to.
if your car is paid off.. it's illegal not to have any. You can put PIP for a very small amount annually. And yes, everyone else is right. Each state can have different laws. God Bless America. |

If it's your 1st offence....minimum 6 points and 300 quid fine. However....(the really serious bit)Police WILL now remove your vehicle from the road and CRUSH it. Don't think they'll catch you?......think again my freind!.......ANPR Cameras ( Automatic no. plate recognition cameras) are now fitted to most police cars and are active in ALL petrol stations....beleive me...you won't get away with it for long! |

It don't know what it actually is but it should be locking up and throwing away key. Anyone who does this is selfish and arrogant and the rest of us have to pay either through the direct result of an accident or by higher insurance premiums |

The penalty for driving without insurance varies from state to state. In some states, your vehicle tag can be seized and your car impounded. In addition, some states impose heavy fines for those who drive without auto insurance. Limited sates fine a fee of $150 to $500 for driving without insurance.
The consequences can be far more serious if you are involved in an accident and do not have insurance. You may have to comply with the financial responsibility laws including having to pay for any injuries or damages out of your own pocket. |
