I am 17 years old and I live with my boyfriend. I live in Hernando County, Florida. My father decided to be devious and decide to suspend my drivers license for no reason at all. Is there any legal action I can take to try and get it back. I have a job and I have a car to pay for.

You must have your parents permission to have a license because legally they are financially responsible for any damage you cause if you have an accident. They can be sued and forced to pay for everything. I assume you have alienated your parents and they refuse to give their permission. You could apply to the state to become an emancipated minor which makes you legally an adult who no longer needs a parents permission but you will probably be 18 by the time that would happen so you might as well wait until you're 18. |

Yes, at age 17 your parents have signed to allow you do drive, and as such, they can withdraw that approval and suspend your license until you are 18,

Remember that form? You had to have it signed to get your license in the first place, and that permission can be withdrawn.
Just a little way down on the form, see it? "...obligations imposed by Section 322.09, Florida Statutes, unless and until I notify the Department to withdraw this consent..."
There is no action you can take if he withdraws his consent, and I doubt it was done for no reason at all and he was devious. I would suspect it has something to do with you being 17 and living with your boyfriend.
At 18 you will be an adult and can then do as you please and get your license back.

Your dad can't just suspend your license. He might tell you he did, but he can't. Call the DMV if you're worried. |
