I just want an insurance for 1 month for my car. I just called Halifax up and they said that the minimum period of insurance they do is 2 months so does anyone know of any insurers who do 1 month of car insurance

Why do you need insurance for one month? Just to get the insurance cards that say you have insurance or to register your car? You know you need insurance on your car by law unless you de-register your car (hand in the license plates). If you drop the insurance even if you are not driving the car and it is still registered the sate will fine you for no insurance. The insurance company will report to the state when you drop your insurance. They do not care you were not driving the car because they have no proof you were not driving so you get fined.
Most Agents will not write a policy less than 6 months if you tell them you only want it for a month, the company makes no money on that so most have rule where they will not help you. The cost of writing your policy will cost the insurance company more than your payment. (MVR Reports, Processing, ect...)
Most companies will charge a cancel fee if your drop it too soon, so consider your costs, it might just be cheaper to keep the car insured for basic coverage.
You can try Gieco, e-surance or progressive but they will usually charge a cancel fee when you drop or cancel. Just keep insurance on it to avoid Cops, fines and fees. |
