What do i do about hit and run?

I was just notified that Six months ago I was suppose to have hit a parked car and caused $611 in damage. I deny it because if i had hit it I would have known. And why are they just now contacting me? What are my rights? I feel anybody can give my liscense and say i hit a park car and caused a small amount of damage.

I t was the other person insurance company that called me, saying someone gave them my tag number, I am insured but the thing is that i don't think I should have to pay $611. I didn't do it.

It is the person making the claim against you that must prove their case. This applies whether the claim is handled between insurance companies or in small claims court.

You have the right to know how they came to believe that you caused the damages. They should provide you with a statement, police report etc.

If there is no damage to your car offer to let them inspect the car. (Don't try this if you have recently had the car repaired.... they will be able to tell.)

If you have liability insurance the easiest way to handle this is to report it to your company and let them handle it for you. Less stress for you, just make sure your company knows that you deny causing the damages.

Contact whoever notified you of this and tell them they have obviously made an error since you did not hit a parked car. That will put the ball back in their court and they will either drop it or try to 'prove' it was you.

That was a mean thing to do, you should have at least left a note.

Could be insurance fraud, this is one of the scams. People find expired insurance cards & file claims under the policy or they just make up a tag # and say they don't know the year make & model or color of the vehicle but they have a tag #....they have to prove it was you though. Let them come out & photo your car, as long as you don't have damage to your car you're fine.

Tell them to show you proof or take see you in court do not pay these people tell them to take you to court and let a judge decide

Questions you need to figure out. Have you ever been away and let a friend or family member use your car? because this can happen. If not, contact a personal injury lawyer.

Well, you report it to your insurance company, and tell them this did NOT happen. If it did, you would have damage to your car. The lack of damage to your car is proof that it wasn't you. Then you just sit back, and let your insurance company worry about it.

What are your RIGHTS? Why would you have "rights"? Not everything in this country is about rights! Hey, somebody wrote down the wrong plate number. Get over it.
