'Blue laguna' has the best answer here. I live in Germany and before I imported my car here I had to tax it one last time. Doing it online is really easy. If you have your V5 and MOT certificate(new format) then you can apply for your tax disc online. You don't need your insurance documents as the information about your car is shared between the insurance companies and the DVLA. so they know if you are covered or not. In less than five days your disc arrives in the post. Definitely the way to go. |

You need your registration document or the V5 form that the DVLA send you to rermind you that your tax is due to expire, a current MOT certificate and your insurance certificate.
If you car has been MOT'd by a garage with a computerised MOT system, you do not need to leave the house, log onto www.dvla.org.uk and you can tax your car online

MOT certificate, insurance form and owners certificate then go to the post office and they'll do it all for you. Or if you've had a reminder from DVLA and nothing has changed you can do online at dvla.org.uk |

They will not accept anything other than the original insurance policy document.
Apart from that, you will need the registration document, and a current MoT certificate.
Oh, and the cash. :) |

call your insurance company and request a new proof of insurance paper. Sometimes, you just need a pin number from them so that may aviod waiting for the mail. |

You need an insurance certificate - which you now need to ring your insurance company for another one
Also an MOT certificate if this applies
Also take the tax renewal form with you

You will need current original documentation proving your car has an M.O.T. and is insured. I cant understand why your insurers will not issue a further cert. Contact them without delay. It might save you a lot of bother. |
