What do others feel about US Auto Industry after yesterday ?

There is plenty blame to go around. The automobile executives ran the companies poorly, the unions got too greedy, obammamma should have never bailed them out and now we all are paying. One can argue that Waggoner should go but obamammamma "firing" him is nothing but pure unadulterated Socialism. Pray for the return to what made the USA the greatest country on the face of the earth..... CAPITALISM ! (And pray for just one term)

Old Man Dirt

GM tried the same old bait and switch routine that they use for selling cars and it did not work.
The big problem in US industry is not labor costs, or even unions. The problem is all of those college educated management types. They are nothing but non productive overhead!
Let me give you an example. One place I worked had a three employees whose job was to find out how to reduce man hours per project. Each of them earned three times what the shop person did. If the goal of the company was to increase production, they could have hired eight more production employees, fired the college idiots and been money ahead.
Admiral Zummualt has the right idea. To make an organization more efficient fire 80% of the managers and do away with the positions.

I like the way they were treated. Nothing gets done without a little fire under their A$$. Especially the auto execs.

But I think the wall street execs should have gotten the same treatments (some well deserved pink slips)

I do NOT believe the auto works should get laid off. They did NOT work on the basis of greed - like most wall street workers. I know. I used to work on wall st and I got fed up with greed and corruption. :-(

And on wall street, EVERY BODY works on the basis of greed. I did also until one day I realized how ugly I was becoming. I punched out out well paying career.
