What do you think about people who scratch other people's car deliberately?

Additional Details
Unfortunately someone has did it to my car but he has to hope that I'll never catch him/her...

I am VERY careful not to scratch or dent my car, or anyone elses car. I always park with enough room to let others get into, or out of their cars. I even am sure to leave enough foom for someone putting in a carseat. However, when I park and leave enough room, and come out and there is a different car parked next to me with almost enough room for me to barely open my door, or even fit in between the two cars, I scratch and dent the hell out of it. My reason is simple. I will respect and protect other peoples property, as long as they return the favor. When they put their agenda, and selfishness ahead of common decentcy, all bets are off. I once went to the grocery store, and parked far enough away from the building that there were no other parked cars anywhere even close to me, and there was ample parking closer to the doors. When I came out, there was a newer Lincoln parked so close to my drivers side that I couldn't fit between the two, much less get a key in the door (still with ample parking closer to the door). I had to climb in through the passenger side, and as I was pulling out of the parking spot, I opened my door (I was driving a junker) and drug it along the side of the lincoln. I think those people got what they deserved, and if I were park that close to someone elses car, and they scratched mine, I would deserve it too.

I think they are immature and vindictive. Not someone I would want to be associated with.

Scouse
I wanted to injure the lout who did it to mine. It is not so much the fact that it is a minor scrach but it is the sheer inconvenience and cost of repair. It is usually not worth an insurance cllaim

I think the same as you do. Even the people who scratch cars think the same way when they are not sick. It is a reflection of the way our society has developed that we have this situation at all.

oklatom
It's seldom just a random act. Someone is not happy with you.

They need to have there faces smashed onto there own car, and made to pay for the dammage to your car.

Its a matter of who is doing it and to whom it's been done. What is a the connection between the two. Is it just a random act of vandalism or do these people really deserve it.

Although I have't done it but at number of ocassions I wanted to. Come on you guys must have seen people park in two spots, and after 10+ mins of driving around being late for wortk, appointment or whatever you do see a single open spot and then all of a sudden a spot opens up right next to the idiots car. Now be honest, don't you wanted to do someting to this guy taking up two spots.

What if the guy is not paying his alimony or child support and you don't have any means of getting anything from this looser. don't you want to do someting to him and hit him where it really hurts, namely his ego and his darling 57 Chevy.

If it just for kicks or fun and as an act of vandalism for no reason then I am all for calling those loosers and ^$$holes.

Knight of Truth
Well, it's pure vandalism.

If you threw in a window, you'd have to pay the damage+ a fine, right, and maybe other punishment?

Well, this is exactly the same. No matter what the reason, it's against the law and shouldn't be punished less because of any reason, (except maybe mental unstability).

I don't think insurance should pay (and I don't believe they do), it's the responsibility of the vandal.

I personally think it's immature. But thankfully we live in an age of technology, and many cities have installed cameras around heavy populated areas. So if you're lucky, the person will be caught on camera and issued a citation for vandalism.

Morons. It's most people's nature to be envious but maliciously damaging is going too far?

daftoldwoman
i would say they must be mentally challenged
its a very spiteful and childish act

I think it is rude. Nobody should damage other peoples belongings on purpose. It is a disgusting thing that should be one of the the only things to be handled maturely but with a firm way of telling them "Get your hands off my car before I knock your lights out," But, if they have a good enough reason, why not? Think about that for a minute. It kind of makes sense, don't you think? Look, I know it doesn't really make sense, but it makes sense too. This is quite a confusing paragraph, but think about what I said. It might help you with anger if your car gets scratched.

But if it's an accident, thats a different story. You might think they did it on purpose, but they might not have. The tip of their key (to their car, apartment, etc.) might be sticking out of their pocket and they brushed up angainst your car. SEE WHAT I MEAN?

mam
MORONS.........

Luke
Personally, it depends if they have a good enough reason to.
JUST THINK ABOUT THIS for a second.

A) What if the person scratching is mad at his ex-bf/gf, or someone that wronged them in someway. What if that person raped you, or did something awful to you. Would you then think that these people are HORRIBLE for scratching the other person's car?

B)If the person scratching was just a total loser, hater, and had nothing better to do, then I'd totally get VERY angry at them and hate on them for doing that.

So the bottom line is, IT DEPENDS.

You can't just ask that question because it really is SO vague.

You're making it sound like NO ONE SHOULD EVER SCRATCH PEOPLE'S CARS DELIBERATELY.

Well guess what? Some people HONESTLY deserve it.

They do.

Sorry.

That's just how I feel.

Don't get me started on this one. Some kid went around my husbands car 4 times with a stone 7 months after it came off the production line. He scratched the lights & everything, then he wrote on the bonnet. I was on my way to test drive my new car when I discovered what he'd done & I didn't even want to go & buy it after that. I knew who it was but couldn't prove it because I had only a 7 year old boy as a witness & didn't want to put him on the spot. We paid for the damage ourselves & didn't even discuss it with the boys parents. They knew he did it & punished him, we didn't see him playing out for about 6 months. They were obviously upset enough to think that their little boy had done such a thing ( I know I would be) without me going around there kicking off. As for the boy who did it, I wished him dead at the time but I know he didn't realise the seriousness of what he had done, but I still hate him for what he did, not just to my car but to my family. People don't realise what effect deeds like that have on people, and people that do realise but do it anyway need a bullet to the brain.

Either they are sick in the head or totally immature to think that it is a way of getting kicks.

I think that they are ignorant, selfish and disrespectful hoodlums who don't care who they hurt all they care about is themselves and I'm sorry your car got keyed

H1976
Scum bags!
Not had it happen to me...yet... but my brother has had it happen to a porche, I guess people are jealous or in his case think he is rich so he can afford to fix it.
Thre truth was he worked his *** off to get that car on the road, and wasn't a money bags at all.

I PURCHASED ANOTHER CAR RECENTLY. LAST NIGHT AND NIGHT BEFORE SOMEONE STARTED IN PUTTING SCRATCH MARKS ON THIS CAR AS SOMEONE DID THE EXACT THING TO MY OTHER TWO CARS. AM STILL LIVING AT SAME APT. THEY GOT INTO THE ONE UNLOCKED DOOR LAST NIGHT AND PUT SOME SMALL HOLES ON INSIDE OF DOOR. I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THIS. I WOULD HAVE TO STAY UP ALL NIGHT IN HIDING TO CATH THEM. IS THE ONLY WAY POSSIBLE. TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT.

I think pussies scratch other people's cars because they are too cowardly to stand up for themselves and have a face to face confrontation. I would have waited by the car and confronted the person who parked too close. Then they may become aware of it for the future. And you just might be suprised the person who did it is having a horrible day (dad just died, got cancer, in need of meds, etc...). You really are accomplishing nothing by vandalizing, accept bad karma for yourself. This type of sneaky person is dangerous. They are the type too meek to stand up to anybody, so they go and quietly poison them. The problem is that this type of person is also usually delusional, so they think they have great reason to do it, though most of the time it is all in their head :( PS- Elaine, hope it worked out for you :)
