Ignore about taking TPO cover although cheaper you have a bare bones cover,
Fully comp is the only way to go if you can afford it. After all ask yourself can you afford the £1000 to replace your car for the sake of £600 insurance (TPO) !
Take your father off he may actually be increasing the price too as the insurance will become
P/1 (policyholder + 1 named) as opposed to OOD ( owner only driving ) whioch some insurers will increase the loading on the insurance.
But for a 1996. 1 litre it does not seem bad,
obviously other factors come into it too, i.e previous claims, convictions, job, postcode but the sounds of it you have a good price.
Contrary to popular belief insurers do not just lower the price, they will want a reason and unfortunately just wanting a cheaper price wont cut it.
You can say you had a cheaper price of say £1300 but be wary they may ask for proof of that too before they beat it
my best advice was given first,
if you can afford it and would not want to spend a grand replacing you car then go for this . |

An average quotation for a 17 year old, who has just passed the test, would be about 2.5K
However, as you're 20 - I guess the figure is about average. |

I would need to know what the car is, the size of the engine and what the car is worth before i could work out wether it is good or not.
Try direct line they do great quotes i would also try and get the insurance company that issued the quote to knock some money off they can do it. |
