What goes first Registration or Insurance?

My parents just got me a used car.
My parents are telling me that I need to insure the car before I register it.

I'm kinda having the feeling that they are just telling me this so I don't leave the house.

Are they right? or are they lying?

Your parents are correct. When you go to register the vehicle, the first thing thet will ask for is proof of liability insurance as it is required by law. Same goes for inpections and license renewal.r

insurance cause you cant drive it til you get it and you cant Registration it til you get insurance and you cant drive it any til you get both done unless you want to lose your license

Attitude there young man. Your parents bought you a car, now they are telling you what you need to do. Why would you even suggest they are lying to you?

A. A car cannot be driven an inch without insurance and registration. It's the law in most states, and even those states that don't require insurance per se, still have a financial responsibility law which requires a cash bond posted with the state.

B. In the majority of states, to register the car and file the needed title work, you have to show them proof of insurance coverage to get the registration.

Insurance comes first. Then you take the insurance card to the DMV and register it. The DMV will ask for proof of insurance before they will let you register it.

a friend of mine bought his kid a new camaro with dealer stickers for his kid. the kid failed to insure it (he lied to his dad,and the dad trusted him),and he slammed into a telephone pole. now the car sits in front of his house with the factory stickers still on it.and this story as well next to the car.
