If the lady reports to her insurers, they will be looking to you to pay for the repairs. Normally when this happens you give them your insurer's details and they claim off them directly. There is nothing to prevent you paying her insurers yourself if you can afford it. Or you can come to an agreement with the lady that she doesn't raise a claim with her insurance but instead you pay her repair bill yourself. Be careful if you do this, and insist on several quotes.

You should report the incident to your own insurers "for information only" at this stage; it won't affect your premiums or NCB unless they have to pay out.

Notify your own insurance ASAP. It ia a bad idea to try to settle on your own. bad things can and do happen when that is tried. You have insurance.....USE IT !

You can contact the other driver and ask her not to put it through the insurers, that is if you even took her details?

You can try to negotiate with her to pay the damages but it looks like she might be going for big bucks by claiming medical damages. (whiplash) For your own protection, you need to report this to your insurance carrier. Yes, it may increase your premiums but that will pale in relation to costs if she files suit against you. Most jurisdictions allow two years from date of accident to file suit. You on the other hand, are required by your policy to report "as soon as practical." Don't put your insurance carrier in the position of denying your claim on the basis of failure to report.r

First you should have taken her name address telephone no.the registration no of the car and the name of her insurance company and then given her your same details. As you hit her however lightly you will no doubt be held responsible. Her Insurance company will contact yours and make a claim for the repairs. You will need to speak to your own insurance as to whether you want to pay the repair bill But you should at the very least report the accident to them. If no one was injured there is no need to report to the police. .

Listen, I got here somehow and I am reading what some people are saying. I have been a chiropractor for 20 yrs and please take my advice. If you are in an accident swap all information. Be straight up. Report it to your ins. when you have the chance, you don't really want your ins. to know you were in an accident by the other party calling, do you? They can be quick with the phone so thats ok too. Do not try and hash out a deal.... That may haunt you later and you never know how you are going to feel days later. RIGHT, I am sure everyone is almost saying yes, I was sore later...... but at the time I was nervous and didn't feel any pain. Call the police only if the vehicle cannot be moved or there is an injury. Some of you will call anyways,but policeman do not want to fill out a report if its a fender bender and everyone is alright. If anyone ever has a concern and you don't live near me that ok, e-mail me and I will be glad to help. If you are hurt, seek treatment within the first few days. This will help keep the inflammation down. USE ICE! I hear people al the time telling me they used heat because it felt good. Have you sprain an ankle? what did you use Ice or heat? Do not claim Liability of the accident.
