What happens after investigation phase in a theft claim?

My house was broken into about a month ago and many items (mainly my musical gear in the studio) were stolen. After reporting the incident to the local ploice and taking forensic examination I reported it to my insurance company too. An adjuster visited my house and took all the receipts and catalouges relating to the stolen items. The next week I was called that an investigation will take place which will involve a lengthy interviewes of me and other witness(s). The investigator interviewed and recorded all the conversation that lasted for nearly 3 hours. I can't remember any question about anything that he didnt ask!
I beleive that they have interviewed 2 other witnesses as well. So how long more do I have to wait and is it a normal procedure every where?...does every one after going through the difficult time of loosing personal belongings then they have to go through the various stages of insurance companies and feel even worse?! Or maybe the number of fraud and dishonety have inclined dramatically so they have to deal with every claim in the same manner?..then I think they should change the so called "ONLY ONE PHONE CALL" claim procedure!... Can any one tell me what will happen next in my case?

Sorry, but because of all the overinflated and fraudulent claims, the insurance companies do have to complete a thorough investigation. I do wonder however, why they feel your claim has an element of fraud. Perhaps your equipment was not properly insured for the intended use. Or perhaps you just endorsed it, and it was stolen. Maybe no signs of B&E. It is hard to say.

You should simply call the adjuster and find out the status of the claim. At minimum, the insurance company needs to let you know the status. They cannot continue to tell you they are investigating. If you are not happy with the response, ask to speak to a supervisor.

A month is not a long time when it comes to an investigation.
And, this is all normal. It takes time for the claim rep to pull everything they need to sign off an o.k. to pay the claim on it.
It is ok to call the claim rep and ask for an update.

After everything checks out they will pay you. There is so much fraud that unfortunately good guys have to be checked out too.

Hi, I read your question and I too am going through a similar thing, In Feb my house had damage because of a storm, I reported it promptly to my agent, 12 days later their insurance adjuster came out and said the damage wasn't that much he did not even look at it properly, on the advice of our agent we had a roofing company come out and give us a quote on the damage, this company in the past has been used by the insurance company, and is highly recommended in the area, the quote they gave us was thousands of dollars more than the adjuster. The insurance company wanted to send another adjuster, they did, this adjuster requested the roofing representative meet him at our home which he did, the adjuster said we had a little more damage then the first adjuster stated, at the time of the second adjuster came out our roof was leaking from the melting snow the damage was causing the water to run down the wall and on the ceiling soaking the sheet rock and insolation, while the adjuster was here he seen the water dripping in and causing more damage. This second adjuster tried to get the roofing representative to state it could be patched when the roofing representative refused the adjuster became upset and left. The second adjuster sent a check that was not enough to cover the roofing company estimation, we have not cashed any checks we received. We requested to go to arbitration, now we received a call from the insurance company wanting a forensic investigator to come out before it goes to arbitration, not to mention it has now been 4 months later and the original damage has deteriorated to look old and it seems like they would of had enough evidences of the damages from the pictures both adjusters took when they were here. My question is, do I have to allow this investigator on my property or can I request for it to continue to arbitration with not allowing the insurance investigator on my property and if I do this would this hurt my case to get my home fixed properly. Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated.
