What happens if i reverse and accidentally "kiss" the bumper of another car?

i was pulling out of a parking lot this afternoon and the back of my car accidentally kiss an indian's car, causing a dent the size of a 50cent coin and a few scratches on the bumper.

i honestly didnt see his car there and i only knew he was there WHEN i hit him. he said he would claim through my 3rd party insurance and i know that bumpers ain't cheap. at first i thought it was my fault, but when i got home and calmed down, i start to think that it's 50-50.

i know he's gonna charge me like 700 bucks for it (obvious) , so should i let my insurance pay it OR should i pay him outta my pocket? i seriously DO NOT have 700 bucks on me right now.

what does being an indian have to do with it ?
you were the one in motion,it's your fault,if you were backing up and just kissed his bumper,how would that cause $700 in damage ?there's much more to this story than you've told us.

well you have insurance and you have it for that reason to cover repair costs so why not use what your paying for

Let your insurance co do the estimate to make sure it is fair, be a man, you were backing and not paying attention. Would you want someone to back into you?

Call your insurance company be4 this other man makes up a while different story about what happened. Either way you are at fault. Im surprised that the police didn't come where I live if there is even a minor accident the police come. To take a report to give to the insurance company. Everything is documented that way and correct.

How do you figure he's also at fault ? He isn't unless he too, was backing up. If his car was stationary, you are to blame. Pay him out of pocket ? I believe this is among some of the worst mistakes people make. You have insurance, why not use it ?

I've done that too...if theres no damage and noone saw it...just forget about it.

If the cops didn't come, to hell with him. Tell your insurance it was his fault. That way they won't raise your insurance. If he calls you just tell him you don't have the money.
