I have tried to tell him thats its not worth the risk, but some idiot told him you can easily get away with it.

well they find it sooner or later really you cant hide it... its part of a driving record which will show up anywhere. sure he will get insurance cause they want the money but sure they wil find his info just by typing in his name he is out of luck trying to hide it |

Your friend, technically, is committing fraud, by providing a false report of his driving history.
If and WHEN they discover, the penalties are stiff, he WILL be dropped from that insurance company, and that will be reported. Which means the next insurance company will see he was dropped, and his rates will be higher from that point on.
Not that this should even be a question, anyway.....didn't his parents ever teach him not to lie? |

They check the state records instantly in an insurance data base and adjust the rate accordingly, sometimes they even deny coverage. Don't try to hide it, they find out. |

You have gotten good answers but here is the deal. Since we don't know the whole story it is hard to answer. It is fraud but intent would have to be proved as mistakes happen. It is would be insurance fraud there are severe penalties if caught, prosecuted, and found guilty. The problem only becomes serious if there is an accident involving death. This will change everything.
When a person applies for insurance the company runs the license number through D.M.V..and if a ticket is on the record it will show. Here is the part probably not explained. If your friend received a ticket and the disposition is still open, it will not show up on the D.M.V. check. The quote will be without the ticket and insurance can be purchased.
An insurance company will run a D.M.V. report in a year and may when a change to the policy is made, or an accident is reported.
If this is the only ticket on this persons record(or will be when disposed of) the insurance will probably not go up. Insurance companies usually allow one ticket.
If there are more tickets your friend should either slow down or take safety classes.
Another option would be to get a better job to afford the lifestyle as a person should not drive any faster or less safe than they can afford. |
