this is a joke rigth, excuse me we are living in America you have to pay for everything. what can happen OK i want to let you know 1.if the police stop you they will take you car away, they will not given to you until you paid the town truck, and they will chard you extra money for each day that the car is in the garage, on less you paid extra money again to they take to you home , and on top of that you will go to the court paid a ticket that the police will give you and that day you need to bring ins.proof and they will fk you driver record, imagine if you have a accident .so then went you paid all that money and you calculate probably with that amount you will paid a whole year of ins. |

The Department of Motor Vehicles with revoke your vehicle registration. Your car could get impounded and heavy fines could be levied against you. |

If you don't pay your bill, your insurance company will inform the DMV and if you get pulled over or your plates are run, the cops will see your plates have been suspended and remove them from the vehicle and possibly have it towed. Then, to get them back, you pay a huge fine plus you have to carry an SR-22 guarantee for 2-3 years which will cost you more, plus the insurance company will charge you a higher premium since you're a risk. I know, I had this happen when my dad neglected to pay the insurance bill. |

It's pretty irresponsible to not pay for insurance.
For one, it's your insurance that if you were to ever get into a car accident that you wouldn't be left high and dry and have to pay for YOUR car and someone else's car.
If you're responsible enough for a car, then you're responsible enough to pay for insurance. |

If you get caught you will probably pay a hefty fine. Of course, if you have an accident and don't have insurance, you may lose your shirt, your house, anything of value you own if a victim takes you to court and wins - the insurance is cheaper. |

All states either have miminum insurance requirements or financial liability laws. Without it, you are in violation of the law, and subject to whatever the consequences are in your state. |

you won't be able to register your car. Your tags will be revoked |

You don't pay, the insurance is canceled. Then the notification goes to the state, and they suspend your license. Next time you are stopped for any reason, even a burned out license plate light, they run your license and find out you are running without insurance and driving with a suspended license. You get a free ride to jail in the back of a black and white, and I come take your car to the impound yard where it stays gathering daily storage fees until you bring me proof of insurance specific to that car, and a licensed driver to take it away. Thank you for keeping me in business. Cash only by the way. |

Well, aside from being irresponsible, the law says you HAVE to have insurance if you are paying a car loan for that vehicle. The bank WILL find out and charge you about 400-500.00 a month for insurance until you reinstate the insurance yourself. And, if you hit someone, they can sue the heck out of you. |

i live in aussie and what would happen is that if you had a car accident and it was your fault you would be up for a lot of money on the cost to repair both your car and the other persons car -especially if it was a good car, BMW or mercedes - that would cost you thousands for repairs - it would be a lot more expensive then paying your insurance - maybe try looking at getting third party which means if you do have a car accident and it was your fault you would only pay the excess on getting the other car fixed which is cheaper and you only have to worry about fixing your car - |

HA! In most..I think all...states, driving without insurance is illegal. It's because of people like you who don't feel like paying for car insurance that people like me who do and get in accidents with make their lives miserable. I was involved in an accident with a gentleman that didn't feel like stopping for the red light..he also didn't feel like paying for his car insurance and because of it I got screwed over! If you get pulled over or in an accident with no insurance you are in big trouble...ESPECIALLY if you get in an accident. Your car will not have any damage paid for, if you get hurt, tough crap you have to pay for it yourself...not smart at all. |

If you still owe on that car the bank will get notice of your lack of full coverage and that is a reason for the bank to protect there investment they will repo your car. Other wise accidents happen even if some one else wrecks you the police will ask for insurance cards and what then? Pulled over at a DUI check point or stopped for speeding? Always the police ask for proof of insurance... |

What do you think should happen? Should the insurance company continue to insure you free of charge? How long should the insurance company risk thousands of dollars on you for nothing in return? I posted a resource below that can help you understand what happens when you don't pay your bill. |

Unless you live in Mexico
almost all states require insurance that is because some people can't afford to fix the car if they wreck it and make a financial burden on others...
If you are pulled over with no Ins. you will be ticketed for it. If you cause an accident then you are totally liable for all damages and if you hit me I have uninsured motorists insurance on my 3 cars, but I would come after you for my deductible. and my increase in insurance. Lots of court time too.
If you can't pay for hitting my 71 Pantera that has a coverage of 75,000 that is what I would want from you for repairs and I would take you to court to get it.... see why it is just a necessary evil. |

Forget the law.
No matter how good a driver- you will get in an accident at some point where someone blames you.
Since your so selfish you should think about whats going to happen to YOU when this happens.
You will be stuck payiing thousands upon thousands of dollars for years and years to come b/c insurance looked so "expensive" ... when your paying that out... youll see what expensive is.
Its sheer stupidity.. even the most selfish person in the world knows that.
Wow.. thats first answerer is ridiculous. She thinks she "beating the system"- yea... youll be real glad you saved all this money when you cause an accident and get sued for everything you own and your future earnings. ha "beating the system"- i love when stupid people think they are so smart. Insurance is about PROTECTING YOU. Why wouldnt you want to protect yourself? All is fun and games til a wreck happens... i cant wait til she gets whats coming for her. |

Worst case scenario, you have an at-fault accident, put a young heart surgeon with a family in a wheel chair, and lose a lawsuit for several million dollars. You cannot bankrupt your way out of that, so you pay every month for the rest of your life, you will never again own a new car, and will never own a home. You will have to have pre-paid Visa or Mastercard. Best case scenario, you are my neighbour, and I thump you upside the head everytime you make a move to drive until you finally buy insurance.
Don't even think about being such an irresponsible putz. |

Nothing until you get stopped by the police or have an accident then you get your stupid illegal butt sued off. |

As soon as your late on paying insurance your insurance company contacts the DMV and they'll send you a happy gram in the mail. You'll have a suspended drivers license and a fine of around $8.00 per day of insurance lapse. You won't be able to drive for as many days as you let it lapse. This is a one shot deal. The next time you let it lapse you will be without a license for 6 month suspension and a fine from the DMV(much more than what insurance cost in the first place). Besides if you get caught driving on a suspended license you will have a even bigger fine, plus you will lose your license for a prolong amount of time.Your much better off just paying for car insurance, especially for the accident purposes,(ya never know, even if it's not your fault)...It's the law so you will get caught. |

You'll get fined or even arrested dude. Just follow my car plan:
1. Get the lowest, cheapest coverage you can get.
2. The amount you would be paying if you got an expensive plan, put in a bank account every month.
This way, you'll still have coverage, but you keep your money too! And if something does happen to your car and your insurance can't cover it, use your money you saved! |

If you hit me, I will sue you for every bit of damage and every medical expense you incur. I will follow you and get all that the court awards me, down to the last $100,000. You will lose your car and every item you own. I will ganish your wages for ever, or at least until you pay me the half million dollars plus interest that you owe me. You will never own a home, business or other car. You will never attract or keep a spouse or family because you will be stone cold broke. Oh yeah, I start this after you get out of jail you immature moron. |

That is pretty dumb, just hope you do not kill someone while driving a kid I knew did not have car insurance and hit someone and killed her. The judge would have been easy on him by giving him probation but since he was irresponsible they decided to give him 30 years with no parole. In *** pounding prison. |

This happened to me and I got stopped and could not show proof of insurance so they took me to the police station in the car while I watched my car being towed to the impound yard.
The only way to get the car out of the impound is to show proof of insurance and pay for the impoundment and they charge you everyday it is in there. I would not do this! |

Save us the time and money and get insurance, if your paying too much, get cheaper insurance, do some research. And if you don't have money to buy insurance go on a plan with a friend or your parents, it's cheaper too. Just get insurance though... |

The insurance cancels, the insurance company notifies the DMV, your plates get revoked. In some states, the police will come out and confiscate your plates. If you're caught driving with no insurance, your car can be confiscated, and you can be thrown in jail. If you are in an accident while uninsured, your license can get suspended, and you'd need an SR22 to reinstate it. |

You will crash into a new Benz and the driver and two passengers will be injured. The medical costs will be at least $40,000, the car will cost at least $60,000 and you will be sued for every penny including legal fees. The court will liquidate ALL of your assets and attach your future earnings for ten years.
That's why you have insurance, dummy. |
