Today I made a little trip to the store. When I opened my door, an awful gust of wind ripped the door out of my hand causing it to slam REALLY hard into the car next to me. The gal was sitting in her car and so we exchanged numbers and such and it really didn't do much more than put a tiny dimple in her door. Will my insurance go up a whole bunch? Has anyone else been in this situation? I took pictures of her door too. Oh yes, and she's also out of state.

I've had the exact same thing happen to me, and it is your fault because you were in control of the car door and then lost it. The idea is that you should have anticipated the wind, or something like that. You are also liable because only you could have prevented it, and the other person could not have. Anyway, the real problem is that the insurance companies have to decide who will pay, and if they must choose one, it'll be you.
It should not make a huge difference in the cost of your insurance policy. |

It wasn't your fault ? Was it the winds fault ? No ? Whose fault was it then? Accidents happen, your insurance may go up but it also may not go up. It's not something to worry about. |
