i'm signing my SLR now, but i don't know if i have this card.

A state ID card basically looks exactly like a driver's license except that it doesn't let you drive. The DMV issues it to people who don't drive, so they can use it to board planes, open bank accounts, and do other things that people who drive would use their licenses for. |

It is a state Identification card that you can get at any DMV. You will need proof of residence. I recommend: two letters sent to you, at least one from somewhere important like insurance or a court, and I would definately recommend a voter's registration card, which you can get at your local friendly California county courthouse *they will want to see at least some form of mail with your name on it*. Once you have these 3 things it would help to have a birth certificate from the state of origin that you were born in, so you can say "hey, I'm moving to California", but if you don't have this don't worry, they don't have time to phukk with that. Once you get the ID card, all that says is that you are a resident of the Golden State and then it will make it LOTS easier to get a driver's license when you are ready. -john in Iowa *used to live in Oregon and California* |
