LGV1 is a class of licence needed to drive articulated lorries, in other words to do deliveries for supermarkets or things like that you would need this type of licence. |

LGV is an abb of long or large goods vehicle, it used to be called hgv heavy goods vahicle it was changed a few yrs ago.there was 3 classes of hgv 1, 2, 3, depending on the weight of the vehicle, but class 2 has now been abolished, you need to pass the class 3 before you can apply for the class 1. hope this is helpful. |

Agreed, LGV stands for Large Goods Vehicle (not Light). What used to be called HGV. LGV1 is for artics. |

The correct term is LGV C+E i.e Large Goods Vehicle (class C) plus Trailer (E) The E denotes a trailer over 750 Kg and can be applied to all classes of licence from cars upwards. The C+E licence allows you to drive any class of commercial vehicle, rigid, draw-bar , & artics & heavy haulage |
