We do not have any of those in the Republic of Ireland or the rest of the British Isles, to the best of my knowledge. A "best" answer surely should not give meaningless information.

It's a standard American answer to anything - stands for Department for/of Motor Vehicles. There's one idiot who cuts and pastes that in as his answer to any question relating to car tax, driving licences etc. In capitals. As to why it was picked as "best", I'd guess it was voted up by the dear old yanks who can't conceive that there are countries beyond their own shores. |

DMV is the US stands for department of motor vehicles. That's where Americans do to get their driver's license, license plates, car inspections, vehicle registration, etc. |

I believe in the UK, these offices are called DVLA, it's the driver licensing/vehicle licensing office. |
