What is an inexpensive auto insurance company for someone with a very bad driving record?

My driving record is amazingly bad, and when I say bad, I mean it. I live in CT if that makes a difference. Should I get an agent to look for me, or should I look on my own?? Thanks

Whether you have Progressive Insurance in your area or not I am not sure...Try them. Also you can got to www.lowermybills.com and do a search for insurance...great site for all kinds of stuff like that! Good luck!

I don't think there is such a thing as an inexpensive insurance company, even if you had a good driving record.

First try to find a company that you can buy directly from the company. Going through an agent can cost you up to 15% more. But if that's what you have to do to get covered, then you have to do it.

Try this link and then click "Auto Insurance Quote" on the left:

try getting a free online quote here...they can insure people with bad driving records for less.

Try Geico you can probably get a good rate from them, a friend of mine lives in the bronx and i got him insurance thru Geico and his insurance is unbelieveably low for New York, let alone having all the accidents on his record that he has. He gets into an accident religiously every 6 months andthey haven't even raised his rates.

I would get an agent. You are a high risk so many companies might not even insure you, and some will only insure if you drive a certain type of car.

I truly wish I could give you the best answer, or even a correct one, but, seeing that you're in CT (I'm assuming that's Connecticut), that's a far cry from what goes on here in Texas. Our insurance policies (house and cars) are all with one insurance company, but it's not by choice as much as it is because insurance companies not wanting to insure houses, or somesuch stupidity, down here. And I live in a brand new, well built, brick home. Oh well. And our 3 cars plus my two kids' cars are all on the same policy, so, they "cut us a break". They even put my 22 year old daughter on my old (2002) car and me on her newer (2006) car, just so she'd have a cheaper premium. Who cares since I'm the one paying the whole bill anyway!! But, that's beginning to change this year since I've told my kids that their years of free insurance (daddy-funded) are about over. But, that's only to give you a look at two different ways to get cheaper insurance down here in Texas, but in CT, I just wouldn't know.
And we've been with this insurance company for so long that I haven't had to, or wanted to, go insurance shopping in over two decades at least. Do consider if you have the possibility to be on a multi-car policy, which is cheaper here in Texas, and also if you can get on with the same company that you may have your house or condo on, if you own rather than rent. I wish you the best. Maybe your driving will improve. Down here in Texas, we can live in wide-opened spaces, and that gives us plenty of elbow room to stay away from drivers with bad records. And then there's the story of my 23 year old son who's back from Iraq for the second time, and there ain't NO place with wide enough elbow space to be safe driving with him. LOL. God Bless you.
