despite urban legend about red cars... there is no difference... I have never had an insurance agent ask the color of my car on the aplication |

don't listen to the idiot above, color makes no difference for ANY insurance carrier in america |

Actually, a red car should get you slightly better rates for a very subtle reason (check it out). A dark color car is harder to see at night, while a red car stands out more. Liberty Mutual insurance company has published these findings, but it may be hard to locate an insurer who will actually give you a discount for color. But they do exist. |

Color has no bearing on the insurance premium. |

CAR color plays NO part in insurance rates for automobiles.
What DOES matter:
1) AGE of driver <-- one of the most expensive things (especially if you are 16 - 25 male driver)
2) The type of car, ie 'sports car', SUV, etc as well as the AGE of the car. Some cars carry a higher rate because they are stolen the most.
3) Engine size - big factor. A small 4-cyl car with a 2.4 L engine will be cheaper to insure than a Musting with a 5L engine.
4) Where you live (ie where you park your car at night). Some areas really do have higher insurance rates due to the number of stolen cars, accidents, etc.
5) YOUR CREDIT RATING <--again, a BIG ONE
6) The number of past accidents/claims against you <--BIG ONE
7) Your driving record <--BIG ONE (past speeding tickets, red light violations, etc) |

Black car. Statistics have shown that red cars are stolen more often by thieves. |

It absolutely doesn't matter and if someone tells you differently they are mistaken.
Also, RED CARS DO NOT GET MORE SPEEDING TICKETS or GET PULLED OVER MORE. That's such a lame urban legend.
So, if I am a guy in my twenties and I drive a thirty year old, red, station wagon I am going to pay more than if I drive a new black Ferrari? |

no difference rates are based on where you live and your driving record |

it doesnt matter what color it is! |

???

You are probably asking this after hearing about how red cars are involved in the most heinous acts and are pulled over the most by police. There is no insurance premium for the color of car you own. Please pick this as the best answer! |

Neither. When insuring a vehicle they will ask make, model, year and VIN. Then they will ask current mileage. What they never ask is "What color is it?" because that doesn't matter in the least. |

depends on the make and model of the car, not the color. |

Not Guilty!

It really depends on the car. Some car companies have mfg. rules about repainting after an accident. For instance my brothers Porche 911 was vandalized. When he had it fixed the mfg. specs. specified that every panel on the car must be removed and painted. They don't want 2 tone porches on the road. The Insurance company knows this and makes adjustments in their rate to compensate.
I had a Trans am that had jacked up rates because of the paint as well.
Just some info on exotics. |

It should be black car.
The most important point that needs to be considered while buying a car insurance is to choose a good insurance company and policy as well. The flood of insurance companies confuse most of the insurance buyers. Thus, the decision of picking a best deal should be logical one. The best way to seek a good insurance company is to do some online research. Most of the insurance companies have their online presence. They don't offer you only free quotes, but also free suggestion, which help you in availing facility of the right insurance company.
Moreover, there are some important factors, which help you in curtailing the price of car insurance. Low price of the car, small size of engine, your suburb location, availability of safe parking are some of the factors, which increase the possibility of availing Cheap Car Insurance. Taking some of these guidelines can help you during the time of buying a car insurance. |

Depends on the insurance company. Some dont even ask the color. Others charge more for certain colors (i.e. red, yellow, etc) as they are the more likely than any color to be stopped and cited by the police. |

They are both equal. Your insurance is based upon your driving record and the type(NOT color!) of car! I.E. A 2 door Mustang(_SPORTS car= going fast!) vs a 4 door Toyota camry( a family car.).

if you think in stereotypes it would be a black car because red cars supposedly tend to be pulled over more ( i have a red car and don't think it's true). but honestly i don't know if insurance companies can make rates based simply on the color. |

You used to get insurance credits for having a brightly painted car because the idea was that red, yellow, or pink could be seen easier than a black or blue car. One is less likely to run into a great yellow thing than a blue thing...
This was when brightly colored cars were a new fad, about 20 years ago. Since then, more colors ahve become available and insurance companies have stopped issuing this credit. |

It used to be that a white car was cheaper!

It depends on the car...A red Nissan Sentra will cost less than a black Corvette |

Black is cheaper. Red is a sports color. |

logically speaking i would say red is easier to notice
but i think it comes under a dark coloured category
and would therefore be the same as black in a insurance price quote |

Cops always stop a red car before a black one...it has been proven that people who drive red cars all think they are better and faster than anybody else..... |

initially they are the same but a red car is much more likly to be stopped for a violation therfore raising your insurance. I'd go black. GOod luck |
