What is the best but cheapest car insurance for 23yr old guy in Florida?

I have been with farmers, state farm, 21st Century, and American Family. I've been involved in an accident with two of them. I got the best rates, and service from American Family - plus with the accident I had a check the same day, it was great!!

I am now with USAA and pay just under $50 a month on a new car with full coverage.

Best and cheapest are not usually coexistent. I have had good experience with Geiko, but will NEVER deal with Allstate or State Farm again. They were beyond horrible to deal with if you get in an accident.

I had a teenage driver on our policy (in Florida) and I had GEICO for a while -- I checked out Florida No-Fault (I go through Direct General for them) -- they seemed to have the best rates. I know you aren't a "teenager" but until you're 25, you'll have bad rates, unfortunately. Give them a call......

I don't know. I have Nationwide. It's not cheap, but I believe they take care of their customers. Have you gone online to Progressive to get a quote. They show other insurances, as well. You may want to look at the deductible you would be willing to pay if you had a loss. The higher the deductible--a couple thousand dollars, the lower your premiums. Good luck. It's tough being a young guy because just by the virtue of your age you pay more.

GEICO - I have been with them for 13 years now.. Try them.. If you're a safe driver you'll get good treatment and your first accident is on them. Free windshield service if it's chipped or crack they'll send over mobile windshield repair van. I had to called them up as my windshield just crack one morning after the new year.. But I don't have to pay for anything it's all covered!

Don't know what's the cheapest, but I know what's NOT - any "high risk" insurer (the kind of company that gives you "minimum coverage").

Those insurance companies may spin it as "we sell you minimum coverage to save you money," but they charge *a lot* for very little.

A few years back, I had a $300,000 combined single limit (for liability coverage). Someone else had Safe Auto. Her *monthly* premium was only a bit lower than my 6-month premium!

Try the big mainstream companies - State Farm, Progressive, etc.

When it comes to auto insurance, you should call about 6 different companies to get quotes. Auto insurance can vary by a lot from carrier to carrier.

Insurance is based upon a combination of the following:

1. Your Credit Score
2. Your Age
3. Your driving record
4. Make, Model and Mileage of your vehicle
5. Type of coverage you want
6. What Deductible you choose
7. Location of where you live and where you drive
8. How many miles per year you drive
9. Pleasure or Business use

Also, if you have a car that is financed, you may want to ask your agent about GAP protection as well. Most vehicles that are financed, you owe more than the car is worth if you get in an accident where the car is totalled. GAP insurance covers the difference in what you owe, and what your car is worth.

Example: You owna 2006 Impala you paid $17,000 for. You total the vehicle. Your insurance company says the vehicle is worth $14,000. You still owe the bank $17000 know matter what. The GAP insurance will cover the left over $3,000.

Many people are under the impression that if you wreck a car, the insurance will just replace it. This is not true at all.

The cheapest insurance is not always the best. You want to go with a well known insurance company, because they will be there when you need them. You also have to take in consideration that you are under 25 years old and your insurance payments will be expensive no matter what. I can not stress this enough, do not go with an insurance company that no one has ever heard about, you will regret it in the end.
I do not live in Florida, so I can not suggest any insurance companies. Be aware and research, you don't want to give your hard earn money to a dishonest car insurance company, trust me they are out there! Good luck
