The tax is computed by a percentage on the purchase price.
What's the tax in your area? What's the purchase price?
In OC, Calif for example the tax is 7.75%
so a car valued at $5,000, the tax would be $387 (I'm terrible at math, so double check me)
The only time tax is not an issue is when it's a gift. Then there's no tax. But you still must declare the value of the car so they know how much to charge you the following year for your new registration |
