Just get a quote here and you'll get an idea http://www.moneysavecenter.com
They are like flight prices, go for a dear one, pay a lot... go for a cheap one, pay little.
Some people go for the first they find and pay through their teeth, some don't. There are tons of places that you can buy insurance from and it's free to ask for their price.
It's up to you what you do, but my advice is to start getting quotes from the insurance carriers.

Liability-only, like Safe Auto. It'll pay damages to someone you hit, but you're out of luck for whatever you do to your own ride.
If you prefer more comprehensive coverage, turn up the deductible. That means that you'll be liable for higher costs if your car is damaged, but until / if that happens your payments will be lower.
Never get into an accident, never get a ticket, and your payments will go down more quickly than if you're the Bumper Car Queen. |

Check out http://mysite.verizon.net/ressg6c7/article_save_hundreds_of_dollars_on_insurance/ this is an article that will explain how to get the best rates and choose the best company.
I read this article and was so impressed by it that I copied the link and sent it to my nieces and nephews. One of my nephews called me back and said that he was able to save $71.00 per month. I have heard from any of the rest of them but I thought was really awesome for him. |

Try AAA, they may have a brokerage firm (it means they actually deal with several insurance companies). They then find the company that will give you the cheapest rate.
Also, there are two discounts available to you as a teen driver. 1st - Good Student Driver discount is available to you with GPA of B or higher. 2nd if you have taken Driver Training (Behind the Wheel) and have the form signed certifying that you have passed the training.
Another thing is to attach you to your parents policy. The longer they have been customers with the same insurance company, the more likely you will be to get a cheaper rate than trying to find a new company. Sometimes switching is good for the whole family as well - maybe your parents can switch to a company that gives them cheaper insurance and so it will be okay to pay a little more for you because they are saving money on theirs and in the end it comes out even or cheaper. Doubling up on insurance is also a way to save, more cars on the same insurance = discounts; homeowners on insurance = discounts.
One more thing I have recetnly learned that you should check into changing your insurance every several years as sometimes insurance companies get out of balance with you. Just a thought.
Much luck to you. My 16-year-old is just going through this now and we just switched from Allstate to AAA - it saved us over $800 per 6 month period, but then she cost a little more than Allstate, in the end it's still WAY cheaper. Just something to consider. Again, Good Luck! |

No insurance will be "cheap" for a new teen driver.
Your best bet is to get some quotes from different companies. |

You will find that there isn't necessarily a "cheapest company." With some research though, you can find which company is the best fit for you. At your age there are 2 things that may lower the price of your insurance.
1. A good student discount. I believe a "B" average will get a price break at a lot of insurance companies.
2. Look for a company that offers defensive driving classes. The classes are typically 4-6 hours long, and you only have to take them once.
Do a little research and figure out which companies offer these services before you settle on one. This site offers a few tricks to keep your insurance cost down regardless of the insurer. Feel free to use the information and the resources on the site to your advantage.
