the way I do it is I wait till I am due for renewal then I shop around and when I find the cheapest quote I ask my insurers if they can match it, if they cannot then I do not renew and go with the new guys.
If you check out a good comparison site you get to save much time as the site will provide quotes from all main insurers.

you fill a form and get back prices from a bunch of carriers, it saves lots of hassle, there'll be more in Google, look for comparison sites they are free to do so it pays to shop around as prices vary quite a lot for the same policy. |

hahaha. The cost depends much on you having and maintaining an absolutely spotless driving record. And it also matters where you live.
I think with a clean driving record that is around $1500-2000 per year, and if you get a tickets and points on your record that will be around $4000-$6000 per year. I speak of the price that your parents will see added to their policy, I don't know the price if you bought it seperately, I'd assume that would be more like the second number, and would happen once you start getting tickets and your parents refuse to have you on their insurance anymore.
I don't work for insurance companies, I just have kids that wanted fast cars and drove them like idiots and jacked insurance rates to around $4000 per year even to ensure stupid nothing cars like Chevy Aveo and Chevy Cavalier. RX-8 is high performance compared to those and would be about 25-50% higher. |
