Just wondering because if its less than what i've been quoted (£1400) it may be a good alternative.

If I were in favour of capital punishment, I would agree with DEFCON.
It is a serious offence, because if you hit someone and caused serious injury, meaning that perhaps a whole family would be affected, then you would be to blame. Just remember, driving is not just about you, but about everyone around you who could be affected by your actions. |

Just think about the poor person you crash into. We all have to pay ridiculous amounts for car insurance for this exact reason people driving without full documentation, leading to insurance companies upping their re-newel quotes!! Get a grip mate or get a car with a smaller engine. Fiat 126 NICE!! |

Hi,
Years ago(1992) i got stopped for riding a motorcycle with no insurance.I was traveling through West-Bromich and i got to an island and there was two police motorcyclists parked up . A car moved abruptly into my lane so i moved over the avoid a collision and the police office noticed me.
I went past both of them to exit off the island, as the one calmly putting on his gear. As soon as i rounded the corner i went for it to try n get away from the suposive slow- poor handling BMW motorcycle.
I saw a bus at a stop and that there was a concealed entrance just after it. So i checked in the bus drivers miror to see if he was still loading up and took that turn...... Unfortuantly that was a dead end!.. So i pulled over,switched the bike off and waited for the officer who was only seconds away!.
The officer charged me with no insurance and then let me go. On leaving the dead and i carried on up the road to realise tht even if i had sped away , i was only heading into a police'd football match. Me not being a football fan, i didnt know the road i was on was the West-brom Albion football ground and it was a match day!. Police on Horses,in riot vans, on foot, in cars and on bikes.... lol.
Anyway, leading up to my court appearance,my mates told me to basically lie my way through- which i didnt think would work. Once in the court i saw the office you booked me and so i decided to just plead guilty.I also mentioned that although i owned the bike for months, i was ripped off as the engine siezed up after only 48hours. I went on to say that i had spend all the months saving up for parts to fix it and only had it on the road since the MOT 2 weeks ago.
I think that played to my benefit, as i ended up with 6points(minium) and a £95 fine.
But i was shiping bricks as i think i was looking at a fine of £2500 for no tax and insurance.But they decided to procequed me for the bigger offence.

First offence £200 fine and banned from driving for 6 months. and 6 points on your licence. A lot of people do not realise that by driving without insurance, and you cause a traffic accident, that you are liable to 6 months in prison, and banned for 2 years. |

Well, lets see. 17 years old. Probably lose license until 21. Be held accountable for any damages caused. If you think your 1400 is high, how will you get along when you are giving your future paychecks to a court? |

maximum penalty for driving with no insurance is normally 6-8 points and normally a £200 fine, but its hardley likely you will get away with it for very long because of the new number plate recognition system basically what happens is if you drive past a police car it will transmit a beep in the police car this alerts them that you have no insurance, then your tax and mot could also become invalid if you have a narky cop who wants a bonus or pay rise have you considered going on somebody elses insurance as a named driver |

You should not be allowed on the roads in the first place with your attitude.
But to answer you question. If you harm or kill someone and don't have insurance you look at a very long prison sentence.
Hope you never get to that point.
Another thing is. To get your road tax you'll need insurance and MoT. Did you think of that Einstein, or are you gonna jeopardise and violate even more laws on your way??? |

If you were given a fixed penalty then it is a £200 fine and 6 penalty points.
If you were to go to court the fine is unlimited and the points can be 6 - 9. |
