I nice used honda wouldn't be a bad start. I have 1994 Honda Accord, didn't pay very much for it (overall) and it's been very reliable. It's fun to drive, and wish I would have got it sooner. I've had three vehicles, and the Honda has definitely been the best. |

I have just seen a report on the TV about chances of a 15 to 34 year old dying would be in car accidents.
That being said I would start off with a low powered 4 door sedan and laying some laws down that if they ever get a ticket for a moving violation that you will definitely ground them and take away their driving privileges for a specified period of time. |

If you are looking to buy used, a Cavalier or a Sunfire are good first cars. They get good gas mil age and your kid won't feel "dorky" driving it. If you are looking for a new car, I would recommend either a Chevy Cobalt or Pontiac G5. |

It really depends on the type of teenager you have and what you are looking for. Overall, I think Hondas, Civic or Accord, have become the most reliable. Please note that if you are looking for a used one, do not get anything older than an '02. That is about the time there product started to really improve their reliability.
I personally think another good car is a Ford Mustang. The new body design looks great, but the previous body style is okay as well. This car is very safe and is structurally very sound. |
