first ask every one if they ok then call cops then exchange driver license and insurance info if you have any damage if its just a scratch or one sees nothing wrong say im sorry and drive on and never admit to anything |

Never admit fault. You may make a mistake. You might think its your fault when its not. So, # 1 never admit fault. Let the insurance company figure out whose fault it is.
All you have to do is exchange info, insurance policy #, name, phone # and also get the person's name, phone #, drivers license # and license plate #.
In my opinion the most important info you can get is their license plate number. Insurance companies know how to track you down with it. But the more info you get the easier and faster it is to get the claim handled. So, if the police come and say to you, "Don't worry all the info will be in the police report", don't buy it. Yes, it will be in there, but in CA it can take 6 months to get the police report. So, get all the info you can before the police show up. Or, at the very minmum get the plate #. |

I'm willing to bet that on the back of your insurance card, it says something like "Never admit that the accident was your fault." Some of the things you should do are as follows:
1. Make sure to get the contact information of everyone who witnessed the accident;
2. Make sure that photographs depicting the points of impact and damage to the two vehicles are taken;
3. Make sure you see a qualified doctor (not a doctors' mill) for your specific injuries, and get all necessary tests to get an accurate assessment of your injuries and long-term care needs;
4. Make sure you notify all pertinent insurance carriers - in writing - about the accident to make sure that your medical bills and the damage to your car are covered;
5. Make sure you file a written report with the relevant state Department of Motor Vehicles that memorializes your version of how the accident occurred.
While each case may differ in the details, these basic steps would certainly be a good start in nearly all cases. |
