Try to deal it out of pocket, otherwise insurance rates will go up much more. You can check how quotes will change here - autoinsurance.maclenet.com |

If you only have liability coverage, there is no reason to report the accident to your insuance company because your policy doesn't cover your car. Call them, however, to cancel the insurance on that car, or switch it to another car when you get one. |

accident shoul d be reported to cops and insurance company but since its liability they might pay for the person tree you hurt and really not much more so really reporting it wouldnt do much more than rise your rates |

Unless you have to pay for the tree, no. Liability coverage only covers the damage you do to someone else's property. It will not pay for damages to your car. |

No. There is no need to file a claim through your insurance company unless you have injuries and have medical coverage or personal injury protection on your policy. |

What's the use if you only have liability? It won't cover your car. |

You probably had to get the police involved because the accident passed the minimum reporting requirements of a certain damage cost or third party involvement or some other reason, even if no injuries were involved.
A lot of policies require you to report such accidents, and if you don't they can drop you for violating the policy. And one of the questions you get asked a lot when changing, is if you have ever been dropped by another insurer, and if so that will affect your rates or even whether they will insure.
Check your policy first. probably hidden in some little fine print legalise that will be hard to figure out what it means. I assume you won't make a claim, so maybe you do not have to report.
And I hope everyone was all right. Accidents do happen. |

Your insurance contract states that you need to report all accidents. If a police report was involved, the I would strongly suggest reporting it. |

you can call it in or not. If you call it in the insurance will cover the towing of the vehicle so its not out of pocket. And when you do that you can (if the car is paid for and you have the tittle) you can sell it to the junk yard and get some cash for it.
If you dont call it in theres a few things to think about. Now theres the loaners(if you still owe on the vehicle then you actually would have to call it in cause you paying for a car that isnt worht anything) If you do have the title you can get it towed and trashed. Now when you get a new vehicle you can keep the vin number from the old totaled car and not tell them about it. Now you will have two cars and then your insurace payments go down for having multiple cars.
But like i said it all depends if you got it towed or not. |

If there was a police report filed, or if there was property damage caused to the tree, you may want to consider filing a claim with your insurance company. The owner of the tree, either a private party or the city can pursue damages to replace the tree due to your liability for the accident.
If there was no damage to any property other than your car, I would not bother filing an insurance claim. You may want to tow your car to a storage free location, such as your house, where you can decide what you want to do with it.
Some people part out their totaled vehicles on the internet, or you can sell the junk car to a salvage yard like Pick a Part. |
