Usually book value. |

NO! Not the total replacement price for the vehicle.
What they will pay, if you have full coverage insurance on the car, is the estimated value of the vehicle at the time of the accident, minus whatever deductible you carry on your policy.
Depending on what you owe on the car, your insurance might not even pay enough to pay off your loan. |

Actual Cash Value. Blue book minus any pre-existing unrepaired damage, if any. |

First, it depends on what coverage you have. If you have liability only, and wreck your own car, they won't pay anything. If you had full coverage or it was someone elses fault and they had insurance it would usually pay the current blue book value. |

If they cover at all (IE, not at fault and the other company is paying, or you have coverage that will handle your situation), blue book value adjusted for condition of the vehicle before the damage. If it was super clean, new tires, upgraded stereo, etc. it may go up. If it was a beater with bald tires and no add ons, it may go down. Ask your agent. |

It depends on the company. When my hubby totaled is semi truck we were talking to the bank about it to let them know and they said that sometimes insurance companies will pay off the loan (which is what ours did) or sometimes they will pay book value which maybe a good thing or a bad thing. If they do that then there are times you may have to still pay the bank money. Then there are times when you get a little extra. So it is really up to the insurance company. You can ask them and they will usually tell you. |
