The CBT validates your licence (unless you're one of the exceptions that does not need to take it) so without it you do not have a valid licence. It may or may not be a fixed penalty offence. However, you could wind up in court charged with "driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence", which will gain you a fine and 3 - 6 points. |

if you ride it without passing your test you won't be insured - the insurance will be invalid. if you're caught / get in an accident you'll be banned, possibly imprisoned if you kill someone, and your bike could be crushed for being driven illegally without a test or insurance. don't be tempted! |

Without a C.B.T., it would be illegal for you to ride on the road at all. Therefore, your insurance and tax would be irrelevant. |

I think its a standard fixed penalty notice - a £60 fine and three points on your licence, though I stand to be corrected on this and can't find a specific piece of legislation to back it up, only a brief reference here in a "consultation" document (http://www.dvtani.gov.uk/uploads/consultations/Introductionofcompulsorybasictrainingforlearnermotorcyclists.pdf - pages 12/13). Whether these ideas have since become law, I couldn't say.
And without passing CBT, I'd have thought your insurance would be rendered invalid, so they'd probably issue a summons for that as well. |
