Have you tried a comparison website? Like money supermarket.com for example. Good Luck, insurance is sooo expensive at your age!

quinn direct are the cheapest plus free breakdown cover :D my fiance has been with them since he was learning and has been with them 2years now.and going on your dads insurance will still go up loads as they know that people use a parent as named driver but they drive it instead. im on my own policy as a learner with express insurance and mine is 700 with extras and on a 1.3 ka. you earn your own no claims this way too.

good luck!

also going on a parents isnt always a good thing as you are NOT entitled to drive it as much unless you are the MAIN driver. if you are an additional driver means you use it occasionally.

*edit* also check for the excess`s quinn is £250 i think and that is the CHEAPEST you will get at 17 dont be fooled by the comparison sites saying £200 or £150 as my excess iss £200 and an extra £250 if im at fault due to being 19. hope this helps you.

Yes, if your parents agree you can go on their insurance. But be advised it won't be cheap.
There are no low rates for 17 year olds, but what they charge considering the risk of covering a 17 year old is reasonable. Prices should drop for you in about 8 years.

car-insurance.66ghz.com - try this one. I personally have their car insurance, cause it is the cheapest for my family in our area.
As I know they have lowest rates for teens and first time drivers.

For a 17yr old here are some averages:

Full coverage should run about $60 a month.

Liability should be $25 a month.

If you are asked to pay more "shop around"

Insurance companies will rip you off if you are not care-full.

Good Luck :)

Going on parents can be more trouble than it's worth... also you're not building up no claims yourself normally.
You're easy prey for those companies unfortunately so it will always seem expensive. One option is to get an old car (early 70s Beetle) and try to get a classic policy with limited mileage as these are often cheap.

For automobile insurance the most efficient way to get a fantastic quote is do a rate comparison on auto policies. Make certain that you pick similar options with the same deductibles, auto model, location, etc so that all things are a good comparison.

What I usually recommend is an internet comparison quote at http://www.lowratetoday.com since they have discount insurers and can give multiple prices on auto insurance polices.

hello
there is very little you can do. teens are high risk, nearly 10x as likely to have an accident as the general populace, so they are charged more... but not 10x more, so actually the rest of us are already footing the bill for teen drivers.

piggy backing your parents insurance is usually cheapest.

im only 16 but this is what my sister of 18 did when she was 17.

its always cheaper for a woman to insure a car. therefore insure the car to your MUM's policy, for example, go on an insurance company website type your mums details in then an option should come up as "additional drivers" this is where you fill in your details.
the car will technically be your mums, but however you will be insured to drive it as much as you want. if you ever were to have an accident then you would have to say you were driving your car somewhere because your mum asked you to. never say its my car and im on my mums insurance policy, always make out its your mums car and you were borrowing it. the smaller engine size and older car you have the less it will be. Good luck :D xx
