depends on what your policy say, if you read all the documentation you should be able to see what you can and cannot do, insurance companies can be misleading and not tell you everything, for instance you might not even be insured to drive to work.

my parents have that loop hole in there insurance that they can drive any car, whereas i can only drive my car with my insurance. just depends on the policy purchased.

Insurance co. states the other car must be taxed and insured, but your policy will pay if you crash. but its a funny thing in Ireland as the insurance co's are a law to themselves. so ALWAYS check with them first!!

You must check your policy details. Even with comprehensive you may not be covered to drive other cars. Best thing is to phone your insurer and ask, then the onus is on them to get it right.

check yr insurance policy most comprehensive policies allow u to drive someone elses car with their permission on 3rd party cover.

You can only drive it on your insurance if you tell your insurance that it is an additional car. They will, of course, charge you accordingly.

No you can't, the vehicle has to be named, as it were, on a policy, for you you to be able to drive it on the public highway or any place where the public have access.

Your policy may or may not allow you to drive another vehicle on a third party basis with the insured's permission. Note the 'with the insured's permission' - this means that the vehicle itself has to have a valid policy covering it.

The only way in the UK that you can drive an uninsured car legally is when you have trade plates on the vehicle

If you call your insurance company they could do it but the problem here is that It's not your car. The law requires that the CAR be insured. To do that it would mean your insurance company Insuring this vehicle and you would be required to register the car in your name. The car is NOT a rental so the first scenario stands. You must register the car. No way to do It for just 2 weeks. That is only if you rented a companies car like Enterprise. Sorry. The answer t your question would be : No you can not.

Well i haf just bought a vehicle soon as i pulled off the police stopped me to check if i had insurance i told them i was fully comp on the car i just traded in and i hadnt told my insurance company of the new vehicle the police done there checks and went next day called my insurance and explained i drove it home they said its fine my fully comp covered the car so best advice check with ur insuance
