Whats the penalty for expired license plate tabs?

My car is registered in Michigan, but now I live in Colorado. My tabs expire at the end of January, but my car is a lease and Im turning it in at the end of February. I really dont want to pay $100 to drive it for 1 month. Does anyone know what the penalty is if I get caught driving on expired tabs during that month?

Get a new registration in Colorado now, and then when you replace this car, you can just transfer the new plates/reg to the new car.
Don't drive an unregistered car, you're just asking for trouble. |
