Yes it's normal.
Some ways to lower it include, setting her up as liability only, if she is doing well in school most insurances have a good student discount. Limit her driving to only driving between home, school and a job and inform your insurance company she will only drive x miles per year. Typically if she drives less than 5K per year it will reduce the premiums as well. Some insurance companies will tell you about the discounts up front, others you have to ask to get the discounts. If you get the discounts many insurance companies will want things like copies of her report cards or they will ask for the mileage each year on the car she is driving. |

You're lucky, it could have trippled. Underage drivers are deemed high risk, therefore the insurance company increases premium to protect itself from losses. |

Yes, but if she takes some kind of driver's ed in school you can get discounts.Also if she gets good grades in school some insurances will give dicounts on that too. |
