I got the police report was told to send it to Austin and they contact both insurance companies.I wondered if I should first talk to my company and am wondering if the other insurance company is required to furnish me a car while mine is in the shop,I don't have money to rent one and have to get to work.What are my options Thank you

Don't do anything unless your insurance company says so.
Otherwise you may end up paying for the rental yourself.
That is because there could be legal details.
For example, what if the other driver was not the owner, and did not get permission to drive it?
Then it could actually be very similar to a stolen car situation. |

Who contacts both insurance companies? Not the cops. It isn't their responsibility to file a claim for you.
Call your insurance and file a claim, then call the other insurance company to file a claim. The two insurance companies will decide on liability. If you are found to be not at fault, then the other insurance company will get you into a rental while your car is in the shop. If you have rental coverage on your own policy, then you can get a rental under your own coverage, regardless of fault. |

If the other driver is COMPLETELY at fault, you can usually go rent a car, and they call the other insurance company to make them send paperwork agreeing to pay for your rental. |
